Humidity sensing in various high-end applications is an expertise of Angst+Pfister Sensors and Power that has been developed over many years. We use a direct measurement technique, which is superior to most other measurement techniques in humidity sensing. And we cover a broad range of temperatures, pressures and gas mixtures.
Our humidity sensing products are mostly customer specific product developed for such diverse applications as incubators, climatic chambers, dryers & baking ovens. Most of them have in common that they measure and work at temperatures above 100°C and in pressure ranges from vacuum and up to 10-20 bar.
The SHTM (stationary humidity transmitter) product is developed mainly for large, high temperature oven and furnaces with a thick insulation layer. The humidity sensor is mounted in a stainless steel tube steel capable of seeing up to 300°C. The sensor head (sensor, tube and cable) can be up to 2500 mm long and is connected to a stationary measurement unit that process the signal from the sensor and deliver an analog 4-20 mA output, but also shows the humidity (in percentage of air) in a display. The SHTM has many features, one of which is the possibility for the customer to input the temperature to the signal processing unit and thereby obtain a higher accuracy for the measured humidity.
The SHTM OEM product is developed for mainly for smaller, high temperatures ovens and furnaces, as well as climate chambers and incubators. The humidity sensor head can be configured from more than 10 different solutions, depending on the exact application. For instance for drying purposes under vacuum, the sensor can mounted in a KF flange capable of seeing up to 200°C.
The PHTM (portable humidity transmitter) product is actually an advanced humidity and temperature datalogger that are used to profile ovens and furnaces before they are shipped to customers or used for on-site profiling & preventive maintenance purposes. The PHTM datalogger has 3 humidity sensing heads and up to 7 temperature sensing heads build into an insulated casing that can see short-term temperatures of up to 300°C and that can see temperatures of up to 250°C for up to 90 minutes. During the operation in a heated oven or furnace the values for humidity and temperature are being logged and saved together with a time stamp, so that the data can be read-out and analyzed after a successful pass in the oven or furnace. The PHTM is popular for large baking ovens, where small deviations in temperature and humidity have a large on the throughput and the quality of various baking products. By using the PHTM with regular service intervals, preventive maintenance can be scheduled in time and the quality and throughput of the product can be maximized. The PHTM can also be used in tuning in multi-purpose oven or furnace that are set up to handle many different recipes. One pass with PHTM can tell the operator that the oven or furnace is ready for a different product.
